The best behind the scenes coverage of the campaign that you can get is at the McCain Blogette. It’s by John McCain’s daughter and it shows you what life is like day to day on the campaign.

Feminism = abortion
We are now going to see how hypocritical and shallow “feminists” are. They are going to savage Palin because she:
a. Believes in the Holy Trinity.
b. Is pro-life.
It doesn’t matter one bit that she is a woman. She is against the sacrament of abortion, so she is evil. All the women’s solidarity stuff will go out the window one more time and the lies of the feminists will be exposed once more. Ten years ago they were exposed when they embraced rapist Bill Clinton because he believed in abortion and good things like that. So, Bill Clinton got a pass and was ok, who cares that he walks all over his wife and cares less for her. As long as he toes the line on killing babies, he’s just fine. Now Palin will have the same ‘logic’ opposing her. If she was a pro-death pol, Gloria Steinem would be in raptures of joy, but save the baby and you’re on the outs with the feminists.
It’s – ALL – ABOUT – ABORTION. Lurking beneath the surface of all debates, hate, bitterness and political fights is abortion and death. The Democrats and many Republicans don’t ever want to talk about it because it’s so explosive. But guess what, God will be talking about it on Judgement Day when you stand in front of him and try to account for the holocaust that happened while you stood by or worse, cheered it on.
Palin’s church
Governor Palin attends an Assemblies of God church in Alaska. This from an AOG newsletter:
The opening night banquet of the 2008 Alaska District Council was honored to have Governor Sarah Palin
address the delegates and guests. Governor Palin spoke of her appreciation for the Assemblies of God and requested that the Council pray for both her and the State of Alaska.
Superintendent Ted Boatsman, who was Palin’s junior high pastor at Wasilla Assembly of God, along with Pastor Mike Rose of Juneau Christian Center, where Palin presently attends church when in Juneau, laid hands on the Governor and led the Council in prayer.
Palin, who was elected Governor in 2007, is Alaska’s youngest governor and the first female governor of the state. She just recently gave birth to her fifth child, Trig. Palin spoke of the faith challenge she faced when learning that Trig would be a Downs Syndrome child. However, she and her husband, Todd, believe that every child is a gift of God, deserving of life, and that God was asking them to accept His will for their lives.
Glory, Glory, Hallelujah
Massive kudos to John McCain. Picking Palin is an answered prayer and a glorious choice. I’m sure she’ll be vilified by the life-hating and Christ-hating left, but this is to be expected. I had goosebumps when I read the news and I am entirely cynical about politics. I think I’ll donate to the campaign and see what I can do to help them locally, that’s how excited I am. The innocent now have a voice in this election.
Pray
Please pray for Christians in India who are being killed, beaten and oppressed. Great is their reward with our Father.
Non-community
I don’t know any of my local elected officials. I don’t know the mayor, I don’t know the city council, the county whatever, or anyone. Our yard is shielded with trees so we only know two neighbors although we know “of” a third too; we just don’t talk. I see other houses nearby and hear bits and bobs of conversations floating in the air on the rare occasions that I am outside. Everyone here commutes of course, I probably am lucky in only going an hour each way.
I don’t talk to people in stores or restaurants as a rule. I just don’t want to be bothered. I am a misanthrope I guess. So how does one build community in this kind of situation? Outside of church community I mean? Most of us here are rootless pilgrims, passing through on our way to retirement. It would take enormous effort and time to connect locally with people. And obviously it’s not just me. It’s not as if my neighbors are baking cookies and coming over to greet us and we turn them away. That’s just life in America. If we had an earthquake and all ran into the streets together, I wouldn’t know a soul.
Something about that is dead wrong. But I don’t see any way around it other than maybe living in closer proximity. Townhomes, condos, the new urbanism, all that would help. This live in you castle on your land is bogus and soul-destroying in my view. Do you know your neighbors beyond seeing them drive by?
What I’m not Watching
I’m following up not watching the Olympics with not watching the Democratic convention. Why watch a bunch of pro-death windbags make pre-fabricated dull speeches that will be forgotten as soon as Obama loses the election…actually, they will be forgotten as soon as they are given. I’m glad to see that Mitt is on the ground there pounding them.
The Olympics
The Olympics have ended and I watched zero minutes of the entire thing. And I am proud of myself. I could really care less about the hype and bluster for sports that no one watches during the rest of the four years leading up to the Olympics. Maybe if they could stick an NFL round-robin tournament in the Olympics it would be worth watching.
But the NFL season is on the way…
Biden – the beginning of the end for Obama
So he picks a Northeastern Liberal as a running mate! Hello? Kerry, Dukakis, Kennedy…Americans just LOVE Northeastern liberals! I thought it would be Tim Kaine which would have given him Virginia and probably the election. But now we have Joe Biden, up there with George Allen for racial sensitivity.
If McCain picks Palin it will be game over, a win for the GOP.
Scholars vs. Truth
If Aristotle be deceived, and say that’s true
What nor himself nor others ever knew,
I leave his text, and let his scholars talk
Till they be hoarse or weary in their walk;
When wise men err, though their fame ring like bells,
I scape a danger when I leave their spells.
