It finally happened. After months of waiting and rumors, the company that I work for, Micron Technology Inc. signed a deal with Intel for NAND flash production. I knew what was going on behind the scenes by piecing together things I heard, but I did not have all of the details nailed down. It is a huge move for Micron. We will open up a new plant, and add capacity at existing ones. On a personal level it probably means increased opportunities, so it is very exciting.
Waiting for a huge deal like this has been maddening. The Governor of Virginia came to the plant a couple weeks ago and we thought that was the day. Then last week we were called to site-wide meetings suddenly, and then just as quickly the meetings were called off. We’ve had months of these false starts. So anyway, it’s great the the rumor is now a big announcement, and we can start making money.
